Alliance of American Football: Can’t Stop
Football is America’s game. We love it, and we can’t get enough of it. While the NFL is, and always will, remain king of sports in the U-S-of-A, football-starved fans are everywhere across the country. And they want their football to be a year-round sport. In fact, 80 million people stop watching sports on TV after the Super Bowl. The Alliance of American Football arrived swiftly to deliver on this nation-wide need. Its founder, Charlie Ebersol, had to move quickly due to Vince McMahon announcing the XFL’s return. But AAF had a couple aces up its sleeve. The first was a partnership with the NFL to become a developmental league and share broadcasting rights. The second was a one-of-a-kind gaming experience to go along with the games on the field. Fans could watch the games while live-betting what the next play would be, how many yards would be gained and so much more.
Like any technology-driven company, AAF wanted to move fast. This meant a quick pitch process and even quicker production to bring this new league to life. Our “Can’t Stop” campaign gave the people exactly what they wanted. The league’s CBS debut broadcast attracted 2.9 million viewers, beating out the NBA on ABC’s marquee match up of the night by a half-million viewers. And millions of fantasy players downloaded the AAF’s app, making it the #1 sports app in the world.
